Reporting a Suspected Honor Code Violation
NOTICE: Professors, Instructors, GTAs, AND STUDENTS may submit suspected Honor Code violations!
If you suspect that an Honor Code violation has occurred, or you have witnessed a suspected Honor Code violation, please follow these guidelines:
  1. Obtain a copy of the Violation Report Form
    • from this website
    • from the Honor System Office at 207 West Roanoke Street (Upstairs)
    • from the department or Dean's office.
  2. Fill out the form completely.
  3. Turn it in to the Honor System either in person or through campus mail.

There are several items that you should include with the Violation Report form. Some of the items from this list may not apply to every case, but as a general rule attempt to include as many as possible:

  • Random copies of other students' work as examples
  • G-2 statistical information (if applicable)
  • Course syllabus including the Honor System reference
  • A statement or policy on group work vs. individual effort and other support information
  • Evidence -- originals of exams, quizzes, homeworks, computer programs
  • A statement of events in your own words
  • Statements from others who might have seen the event, such as graduate students or witnesses
  • Dates and times when the event occurred, or material was submitted
  • Copies of relevant pages from the course text, website, or other appropriate material.
  • Please keep in mind you have 30 CLASS DAYS from the DATE OF DISCOVERY in which to report a suspected violation.

Please provide this material to the Honor System as promptly as possible. When submitting evidence please observe the following guidelines:

  • Where possible, provide single-sided copies only
  • Use paperclips if necessary, but please do not staple material together
